Beccles Ward

You will have TWO votes

Parishes included …. Beccles, Worlingham, North Cove and Barnby

 

1. Graham Elliott

 

Graham was the first ever Green Party Parliamentary Candidate for Waveney in June 2001 and has been selected to do the same job in this years general election.  He is perhaps best known for the development of safe cycle routes in Beccles and Worlingham but is also involved in promoting organic food and renewable energy.  Graham lives on an organic small-holding with his wife Nicky and two children.

2. Liam Carroll

 

Liam, 39, is a seasoned campaigner for Human Rights around the world.  He has been very active campaigning against recent wars and in promoting peaceful alternatives to conflict.  He is a founder and active member of "Theatre of War", which among its many creations, is the giant statue of George Bush that was toppled in Trafalgar Square. Liam spent 7 years living an extremely low-impact lifestyle as a horse-drawn traveller in Ireland.  He has also worked as a horseman at Redwings Horse Sanctuary.

 

Bungay Ward  

You will have ONE vote

Parishes included …. Bungay, Flixton, Homersfield, The Saints, Rumburgh, Barsham, Shipmeadow, Mettingham, Ringsfield, Redisham, Shaddingfield, Weston, Ellough, Sotterley, Mutford and Willingham

Lorna Kerrison

Lorna was born in Bungay and after studying and working in other parts of the country has returned to live in the area.  She has degrees in Human Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment.  Lorna has worked for various conservation organisations and now works for a local wildlife charity as an Education Officer.  Lorna’s main concerns are for declining town centres and loss of open spaces.  She supports local initiatives that are community led and sees public transport and waste reduction as crucial in dealing with the impacts of global warming.

 

Halesworth Ward

Jen Berry

 

Jen is a retired Froebel trained teacher and has an OU degree.  She has been an active supporter of CND and Greenpeace for many years and is very concerned about humankinds' attitude to the environment (and to each other!).  She wants to help the Green Party bring sanity to every sphere of this daft world!  We can already run vehicles on water or compressed air - so let's stop our addiction to oil.  Are you listening George?

 

Kessingland &

Southwold Ward

Parishes included …. Southwold, Reydon, South Cove, Covehithe, Benacre, Henstead with Hulver Street, Rushmere, Kessingland and Gisleham

John Windell "Will"

 

Will has lived in Southwold for 13 years.  He works locally as a carpenter and spent three years working on Southwold pier.  He is a well-known local musician and facilitates the regular "Shindig" at the Harbour Inn in Southwold.  Will is heavily involved with community projects including the "Sound of Wangford", a creative arts project for local children and helped to set up and run the Marshlanders Youth Club.  To get away from it all Will retreats to his organic allotment.

 

Gunton Ward

1. Maxine Narburgh

 

Maxine is a graduate in environmental sciences. She is working for a local charity, developing community recycling initiatives in Lowestoft and is also working for the UEA on the transition to sustainable development in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. She is particularly interested in the opportunities available for local ownership of regeneration initiatives and global peace.

2. Jane Mason

 

Jane lives in Harbour ward and works full-time as a carer in a residential home for the elderly in Lowestoft.  Jane was a one parent family herself and now has adult daughters and young grandchildren.   She is particularly concerned about the state of the world that her grandchildren will inherit.   Jane is an active member of Greenpeace and until recently was a volunteer at a youth club and the Citizens Advice Bureau.  Jane is an active campaigner against animal cruelty.  Her vision is of a world where no living thing has to suffer for the wants of others.

 

Lowestoft South Ward

You will have TWO votes

Waveney District Council wards …..Kirkley, Whitton and Carlton

1. Gary Hilton

 

Gary has had a passion for Lowestoft and the surrounding areas since moving here with his family 17 years ago. He has since been prominently involved in the local community through theatre, journalism and live music, recently forming the ‘Music4Life’ project to raise support and awareness of the plight of a great number of the world’s population, in addition to members of our own community.  He is strongly involved in promoting renewable energy, both locally and globally.

2. Chris Goodings

 

Chris is a keen environmentalist whose main subject is renewable energy and the wide scope of related issues, including pollution, greenhouse gas reduction, sustainable transport and secure energy for the future.  He is passionate about employment creation, believing that we possess the skills required to develop the local renewable energy industry and greatly contribute to the local economy.  He believes that Lowestoft can become a leading light in the renewable energy market. 

 

Pakefield Ward  

You will have TWO votes

Waveney District Council wards ….. Pakefield and Carlton Colville

1. Ann Skipper

 

Ann, a grandmother, has lived in Pakefield for over 20 years and works for a local charity, in a Women’s Refuge. She is actively involved in several local voluntary agencies including Waveney Women’s Health Information Centre, Victim Support and Waveney Domestic Violence Forum.  She is aware of the serious problems of homelessness within Waveney and Lowestoft in particular.  Much more needs to be done, social housing should be the first priority of any building programme. Ann resigned from The New Labour Party in protest against involvement in the Iraq war.

2. Emma Waller

 

Emma has lived all her life in the Lowestoft area.  She is currently studying for an Open University science degree in between looking after her  three young children.  She is also involved with Lowestoft Woodcraft Folk, a youth group supporting social justice, co-operation and peace..  She is committed to making public transport more accessible and in promoting the local production of organic food.

 

Oulton Ward  

You will have TWO votes

Waveney District Council wards …..Oulton Broad, Oulton, Lothingland and St.Margarets

1. Stephen Sizer

 

Stephen, 25, has lived in Lowestoft all his life. He believes that a sustainable society, based on need not greed, is the only way to avert global crises such as war and climate change. The key to this is recycling, renewable energy, sustainable transport and energy efficiency. Stephen believes that the technology exists to achieve these aims, and only the attitudes of the main political parties prevents us achieving them. Stephen works as an electronics technician for a company based in Lowestoft.

2. Kerry Taylor

 

Kerry is a Mother of two, works part time in a local public house and is studying part time with Community Education.  She is also a volunteer for the Family Welfare Association in her spare time.  She is particularly concerned about the preservation of the environment, protecting our wildlife, animal rights and the promotion of renewable energy.  Kerry has lived in Oulton Broad for 8 years.

Colin is a Cambridge University graduate who has spent most of his working life teaching in Lowestoft schools.  More recently he has branched out into educational travel, specialising in school trips to France.  His interests include bird watching, railways and Norwich City Football Club!
